What is a Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS)?

Benefit Auctioneer Specialist

Benefit Auctioneer Specialist is a professional designation from the National Auctioneers Association. It signifies that an auctioneer has trained with leaders in the field of fundraising auctions, and has himself made a commitment to the industry. BAS designees learn tips and techniques from the best of the best charity auctioneers, in many cases the first auctioneers who ever called benefit auctions as a full-time career.

As well as classroom training, designees must complete annual Continuing Education to ensure they are staying current in the ever-changing world of auction fundraising. Andrew Bost, based in Austin and serving the entire state of Texas, was among the first ever recipients of the BAS designation in 2007. He was also selected to be a presenter at the first ever Benefit Auctioneer Summit in 2010.
